One of the biggest names in the streaming industry, MoistCr1TiKaL, is allegedly going on an “indefinite hiatus” and leaving his podcasts. This was announced today, July 31, on The Boys Patreon, though Cr1TiKaL himself is yet to make an official comment.
The Patreon post titled “Goodbye Charlie” outlined that the popular creator will be leaving The Official Podcast and the Red Thread (thanks Dexerto). This decision was reportedly influenced by Charlie’s (Cr1TiKaL‘s) wish to “scale back his time spent on the internet.” The Official Podcast and the Red Thread will remain operational and won’t be taken down after Charlie departs, the Patreon post concludes. Charlie hasn’t spoken on the matter yet, though some believe the move was prompted following his recent debate with fellow creator Sneako.
The debate was packed full of political discussion, during which the issue of gender transitions came up. Sneako likened the act of gender transitioning to genital mutilation, which Charlie assumed, as later explained, to be hyperbolic. The streamer supported the idea that minors should have the means to transition their gender if both they and their parents were consenting, which, amid Sneako’s descriptions, was didn’t go down well with a certain online crowd. Charlie later tried to clarify his arguments and stated he was opposed to gender reassignment surgeries for minors, and reiterated that he believed Sneako spoke in an exaggerated manner.
While it isn’t exactly clear why the streamer decided to go on a hiatus, nor if this hiatus will involve his YouTube and Twitch channels aside from podcasting, many have already assumed the Sneako situation played a part. But we will have to wait for an official statement from Charlie himself, which is likely not far away considering his frequent uploading schedule.
