Over the past month, many viewers have enjoyed the re-emergence of Grand Theft V roleplay on Twitch. Some of the biggest personalities have spent the majority of the month in Los Santos playing an odd assortment of characters—from shady lawyers to criminal taxi drivers. With so many communities coming together under a single game, it’s created drama that streamers like Jaryd “Summit1G” Lazar have had to face.
One major problem that’s resulted from GTA roleplaying is communities taking things too seriously. If two characters get in an argument in a roleplay server, communities have taken the arguments personally. When this happens, one streamer’s viewers will invade a different channel and spread disparaging comments in the chat.
During a livestream last week, Summit1G responded to a comment made by Jesse “MOONMOON_OW” in response to communities causing unnecessary drama on Twitch. “I guarantee if I pulled 35,000, 40,000 viewers give me a week I’ll put them in their place,” MOONMOON_OW said. While the comment wasn’t directed at Summit1G, he said he “still took a personal hit about that.”
“Sure, I’ll just put 60,000 motherfuckers in their place,” Summit1G said in response to MOONMOON_OW. “The fuck man? I’m not anyone’s dad—I shouldn’t have to tell you what the fuck to do.” Despite Summit1G’s strong opinions about monitoring his audience, it seems like he’s changed his mind recently.
During a stream yesterday, Summit1G apologized for drama that his audience was causing surrounding GTA roleplay and warned his viewers to behave. “I’m sorry that people get slack from this channel, it’s stupid, it’s dumb—don’t do it,” Summit1G said. “I’m telling you right now, please stop.”
Despite his warning, Summit1G said he doesn’t expect people from his chat to stop what they’re doing.
