The One Piece Card Game banlist is one of the only external deckbuilding rules Bandai Namco places on local and competitive play, with the most powerful or synergistically strong cards hitting the chopping block.

Bandai originally decided to keep the ever-evolving banlist quite sparse in the early days of the One Piece Card Game, only really blocking set two’s Cabaji (to avoid a broken Nami card combo). Whitebeard’s iconic ship, the Moby Dick, was added quickly after Paramount War was released though, when it became clear how meta-warping the red stage could be when paired with other Whitebeard Pirates cards.

The power of red leaders like Edward Newgate and Roronoa Zoro eventually led to other strong picks in the same color being banned, including Radical Beam, the Newgate character card, Nami, Curly Dadan, and two different Marcos. These have since been unbanned again, with Bandai deeming their strength more controllable after Awakening of the New Age.

In 2024, the TCG went through its most cataclysmic changes with the clear best deck, Sakazuki, being gutted with a leader ban. Black event Great Eruption and the new yellow removal Reject were also banned completely.

Bandai then took another huge swing at the metagame heading into the West’s OP-08 release, adding leading deck Trafalgar Law to the ban list too.

Here’s the current One Piece card game banlist, including restricted cards.

One Piece cards facing future bans

There’s always strong One Piece Card Games cards, Leaders, and events players are interested in seeing added to the banned or restricted lists. These include meta-warping utility cards and Leaders with effects limiting Bandai’s ability to design other strong options in those colors.

The regularly mentioned cards include Big Mom’s 10-cost bomb card, which heals your life by one and damages your opponent, and the ever-present Black character Gecko Moria, who brings trashed characters back.

Some of the in-danger cards include:

  • Charlotte Linlin OP03-114
  • Gecko Moria OP06-086
  • Black Maria OP08-074

This article will be updated with any further One Piece bans.
