Major item changes are taking place in Teamfight Tactics for the Reckoning: Dawn of Hope midset update.
All Shadow items will cease to exist in TFT with the release of Reckoning: Dawn of Hope on July 21. They’ll be replaced by Radiant items, dangerously powerful versions of existing vanilla items without a drawback. Due to the extreme power levels of these items, players can only choose one Radiant item to play with.
A total of three Radiant items were revealed today by Riot Games: Radiant Rabadon’s Deathcap, Radiant Quicksilver, and Radiant Banshee’s Claw.
- Radiant Rabadon’s Deathcap: Grants 100 bonus ability power (including components).
- Radiant Quicksilver: The holder gains immunity to crowd control in combat for 30 seconds. A Radiant bonus provides 30 percent attack speed.
- Radiant Banshee’s Claw: When combat begins, the holder and all allies gain a shield that blocks the first enemy’s ability. A Radiant bonus provides plus-200 health for all allies.

Players will have access to a Radiant item at Stage 3-6 for every player via an Armory. A total of five TFT Radiant items are in the Armory to choose from. Items that are considered utility or meta dependant have an additional Radiant bonus attached to them on top of the beefed-up ability. Popular items like Rabadon’s Deathcap don’t have an additional Radiant bonus attached to them.
Radiant items can change the course of a game and are considered to be “jackpot items” by the TFT design team. Despite their power levels, variance throughout a game is still a priority for the team. Each Radiant item will be watched closely, with the team “carefully balancing them against each other.”
The Set 5.5 midset update will take place on July 21 via Patch 11.15. Players can test out the TFT Reckoning: Dawn of Heroes changes on the PBE starting around July 7.
