VALORANT players frequently encounter error code 39 after a new patch.
The error code is related to server connectivity issues but can happen for any number of reasons. It prevents some players from loading VALORANT and others from joining a lobby and entering into a game.
The error indicates Riot’s servers have gone offline in certain locations. This, because of the nature of patches, usually applies to the North American servers first but can affect the European servers and the rest of the world.
When the servers are up and running, the error code could be related to downtime. When a new patch is scheduled, especially with a new Act, the servers go down for maintenance. This maintenance can last anywhere between five minutes and one hour, depending on the size of the patch.
