The newest expansion in World of Warcraft, The War Within, has finally dropped. But getting started on the campaign quests will vary depending on character level.
Many players, including myself, are jumping back into WoW for The War Within (TWW). The newest expansion kicks off the Worldsoul Saga which is expected to provide content for several years out. Many new features were included within TWW, like Warbands, new Hero Talent trees, and Delves.
All ways to start WoW The War Within campaign
Starting the TWW campaign isn’t as easy as logging in, unless you paid for the Epic bundle or have a character boost sitting around that you haven’t used yet. For those who have a level 70 character, the tasks you need to follow are much easier than players who don’t.
- Upon logging into the World, check the Quest Log for The War Within campaign quest.
- If the quest isn’t in your log, try logging out and restarting the game.
- Use the Scroll in your inventory to teleport to Sillithus and speak with Magni.
- Complete the beginning game quests before being sent off to the Isle of Dorn, where the official chapters of the campaign start.
Getting into TWW without a level 70 character is slightly more extensive. To enter the official campaign, you’ll first need to complete the Dragongflight Hunt for the Harbinger storyline. Blizzard is requiring players to follow this path so they are familiar with the mechanics introduced through the previous expansion.
Find The Harbinger quest through your Adventure’s Guide under suggested content. Then travel to the Legion version of the Chamber of the Guardian in Dalaran.
Tips for starting WoW The War Within campaign
Once you start the official campaign, the game will teleport you to Dalaran. You’ll perform some tasks within The Portrait Room before heading out into the city to complete quests. I recommend picking up your Profession while exploring the city through the campaign quests.
I’d also avoid any of the side quests if you plan to play during early access or when TWW officially launches on Aug. 26. There are three storyline chapters in each of the four zones the campaign takes you through. To avoid crowds, I recommend picking up side quests once you reach The Ringing Deeps zone (levels 73 to 75). Experienced players may want to hold out for the Hallowfall zone (levels 75 to 78) to earn more XP since the campaign quests will probably only get you to level 77 or 78.
