World of Warcraft‘s 20th Anniversary Event, which spans November and December, features many incredible activities and events. There’s one standing out above the rest though: The Blackrock Depths Raid, which players can’t wait to play again.

Blackrock Depths elicited a love-hate relationship from WoW players when it first ran because it was so extensive and lengthy, and there was so much to do; it often didn’t feel worth it. All those quirks also gave it it’s long-standing charm though, with many veterans loving just how much there was to learn and conqueror in Blackrock Depths—which is why, now that it’s returning for WoW‘s 20th Anniversary, the fandom simply can’t wait to load it up.

Players are excited to relive their past and enjoy the “nostalgia” because, for many veterans, this dungeon was the all-time peak of WoW dungeon design. This is because it wasn’t just a quick hit or a cut and dry dungeon; many players loved that it was like “a D&D dungeon [where] you had to decide where to go.” The excitement has only been raised higher too with news it’s going to be revamped; a modern rework that could solve it’s underlying problems.

The new The War Within raid will be open to a group of 10 to 15 players, and it’ll feature revamped bosses, minibosses, and a boatload of mobs you’ll remember from the original dungeon like dwarves, elementals, and other beastly enemies. On top of that, it’ll now have multiple difficulties: LFR, Normal, and Heroic. So, while it’ll still have a lot of the iconic elements we’re used to, it’s been revamped in a way that fits the playerbase and raids of today.

There are some players worried the iconic raid will lose it’s sprawling, winding layout, but for the most part the WoW community just can’t wait to see what’s been changed.
