Australian Olympic breakdancer Rachel “Raygun” Gunn is now trending in World of Warcraft after effects were added to her iconic 2024 Paris Olympics video, showcasing how her viral b-girl moves resemble a Mistweaver Monk casting its abilities.
In WoW, Mistweaver Monks are core healers. Armed with cool breakdance-like moves and a soothing green mist, they’re one of the more visually appealing classes—a status only enhanced after one WoW player shared a clip illustrating the similarities between Mistweaver’s and Raygun. Mistweaver mains were quick to respond, with some admitting they never felt so “attacked” or “seen” and many claiming her moves are “1,000 percent accurate.”
In the video, Raygun’s back roll looks like Roll (which makes the Monk roll) and her pose resembles Yu’lon the Jade Serpent. Even better, when she lays down on the ground it looks like she’s casting Life Cocoon on herself. These moves are iconic. Players agree they’re pretty standard for Mistweavers and that this chaotic Olympics x WoW mashup was the “high-quality pre-patch content we’ve been waiting for.”
Jokes and memes aside, with The War Within releasing in a few short days, everyone’s debating which class and specialization they should play. While Mistweaver Monks have suffered in the past, especially in Dragonflight, they’re set to receive a bit of an overhaul to their damage, utility, and healing in The War Within patch. These changes are so significant that Mistweaver Monks have now been rated as an excellent Healer choice. We won’t truly know how they’ll compare to other Healers until The War Within officially goes live, but from everything we know so far they look to be in a pretty good state.
I usually play DPS classes heading into new WoW expansion, but this meme makes me want to play Pandarian Mistweaver Monk in The War Within. For Raygun.
