Runes in WoW Classic SoD can drastically alter how your character plays. Runes break down the traditional class structures, allowing more classes than ever to experiment with healing, tanking, and dealing out different forms of DPS.

Each rune will offer unique abilities, and no two runes are the same, which means you have more options to create a play style that’s unique to you and suits how you want to play WoW Classic SoD. If you have rolled a Warlock in your Season of Discovery adventure, below are the runes you can look forward to finding and how to engrave them.

How to engrave runes in WoW Classic SoD

Runes for all classes are divided into Chest, Legs, and Glove runes. Whenever you find a rune, you must engrave it on its designated gear, meaning you can’t engrave a Chest rune on your Gloves.

Once you’ve found and unlocked a rune, you can engrave it by following these easy steps:

  1. Open your character screen by pressing “C.”
  2. You’ll see the new rune section in your character’s spellbook. Click on the “Rune” icon.
  3. Select the rune you want.
  4. Apply it to its corresponding piece of armor.
Tip:

You’ll know the rune has been engraved because the rune’s icon will appear on the engraved piece of equipment.

All Warlock runes and locations in WoW Classic SoD

There are 12 Warlock runes, so far, in WoW Classic SoD. How you get these Warlock runes depends heavily on your chosen race and class combination. Most runes will be attained by quests, but you can find other runes attached to random mobs in your specific starting locations and leveling zones.

Orcs will get this from Nartok in Durotar (who is roughly at the coordinates 40.6 and 68.4) after you’ve completed the level two quest, Stolen Power.

Horde:
Undeads will get this from Maximilian in Tirisfal Glades (he’s roughly at the coordinates 30.8 and 66.2) once you’ve completed your level two quest, The Lost Rune.

Thankfully, most Warlock runes are found via quests or in your starting zones. However, the ones I found to be the most challenging to get were the ones involving having an Honored Reputation or completing what felt like a million pre-requisite quests before getting the quest for the rune. It’s tedious and a labor of love. But if you want to increase your damage output, you’ll undoubtedly want to find and engrave some of these runes.

Until more runes release, hopefully, for phase two, these are all 12 Warlock Runes in WoW Classic SoD, their abilities, and their locations.
