The Earthen are the new Allied Race coming to World of Warcraft in The War Within expansion. They’re just like regular Dwarves, except they’re larger, Titan-Forged, and made from the essence of Azeroth.
Earthen have a very unique look, with stone skin and customizable crystals all over their body. Allied Races like Zandalari Trolls and Void Elves are normally limited to only one faction, but the Earthen can be Horde or Alliance. They also get a ton more customization options than other Dwarven races, like female dwarves with beards, and finally, male dwarves without them.
Here’s everything we know about the Earthen Allied Race, including their release date, available classes, traits, and more in WoW The War Within.
Earthen Allied Race release date in WoW The War Within

Earthen Allied Race racials in WoW The War Within
Earthen have five racial abilities in The War Within.
- Azerite Surge: Draw upon your inner strength with an empowered spell you can hold down to charge up, like Evoker spells. When released, it releases a fiery Azerite cone in front of you, dealing Fire damage. This spell has a two-minute cooldown and gains the following charge effects:
- 1: Deals Fire damage
- 2: Heals allies
- 3: Deals additional Fire damage to the enemy most affected by Azerite Surge
- Hyper Productive: Increases Finesse by 2 percent, so you have a higher chance of getting extra materials while gathering.
- Ingest Minerals: You are always Well-Fed, but cannot consume food. Activate this ability to consume a Khaz Algar gem and change the buff:
- Amber (Stamina)
- Emerald (Haste)
- Onyx (Mastery)
- Ruby (Critical Strike)
- Sapphire (Versatility)
- Titan-Wrought Frame: Base armor from items is increased by 10 percent.
- Wide-Eyed Wonder: You gain 200 percent extra XP from exploration.
All Earthen Allied Race classes in WoW The War Within
While Blizzard initially announced that Earthen could be Death Knights, this is no longer the case. Earthen cannot be Death Knights in The War Within. This makes sense, given the playable Death Knights in WoW were servants of the Lich King—either Arthas or Bolvar—and the Lich King stopped existing after Sylvanas destroyed the Helm of Domination in Shadowlands.
Earthen can be every other class that doesn’t involve transformation, meaning they can be all classes except Druids, Demon Hunters, and Evokers. The full playable class list for Evokers in The War Within is below:
- Hunter
- Mage
- Monk
- Paladin
- Priest
- Rogue
- Shaman
- Warlock
- Warrior
