The Gerudo Sanctum in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a bit confusing at the best of times, especially when you come across a room with a gold plaque that asks you to “Seek two distinct tributes” in front of a golden locked door.

The tablet says that there are “Clues to the desired tributes are recorded somewhere on this floor,” but after scouring it for over an hour, I never could find out what it was referring to and let random chance be my guide. It ended up working out as I discovered it referred to two of the four Echos you can find in the sanctum.

To solve the puzzle in Echoes of Wisdom’s Gerudo Sanctum, you need to find two of four statues located in the ruins and place them on specific spots in the room to open the big door.

If you already have them, the statues you want to use are a blue elephant, which goes on the red pad on the right, and a golden hawk, which needs to be placed on the pad on the left. When both of these statues are placed successfully, the door opens. The green and red statues are decoys and offer nothing but additional Echos you can find and use in your journey. You know if you have placed the correct statue down when the red floor shines with a golden light.

If you don’t have the statues just yet, let’s look into where you can find them.

You’ll eventually find a way outside when you exit the sanctum using the door on the left of the room where you need to place the statues. As you progress, you’ll come across a split in the map that’ll take you in two directions, with each of the statues down one of those paths.

In the top right of the map after going outside around the outskirts of the sanctum, you can find the golden hawk Echo statue above a pillar where you need to use your bind ability to move ladders until you can climb up. It’s a bit of a trek and requires access to a few Echos that make climbing easier, so if you don’t have many, it might be worth leaving the Sanctum and finding something like a Trampoline or Flying Tile and coming back.

As for the blue elephant, it’s located in the deepest part of the sanctum through the door opposite the one you came out of. Continue through the maze, and you’ll eventually find a room with multiple blue statues inside. It’s one of the two that can’t be missed.

When you have both, return to the previous room by opening the map and teleporting to the nearby waypoint, and then place the statues as previously instructed to move onwards.
