Using your Descendant’s abilities in The First Descendant may be effective against Albion’s enemies, but what happens if you’re out of mana or are waiting for cooldowns to reset? Nothing beats a trusty sidearm—and you’re allowed three of them.

Ammo types in The First Descendant

Weapons and weapon types in The First Descendant are divided into four distinct ammo types: General, Special, Impact, and High-Power. You’ve got three weapon slots for your Descendant, and while it sounds cool to equip three High-Power launchers and demolish the battlefield, you’re quickly going to find yourself short of ammo.

Equipped weapons with the same ammo type share from the same ammo pool, so if you run dry of the ammo, you’ll be down to one weapon. It’s highly recommended to use three different ammo types across your weapons, with at least one a High-Power weapon.

Here’s a list of each weapon type and which ammo it uses in The First Descendant.

There are 22 Ultimate weapons available in The First Descendant. These act like Exotic weapons for those familiar with Destiny 2, or Exalted weapons in Warframe (just without the attachment to a particular Warframe), and come with an added effect normally tied to landing kills with the weapon.

Ultimate weapons can’t be found as random drops in The First Descendant. They must be crafted at We’ve gone in-depth into each weapon and how to acquire them, but here’s a list of those weapons again sorted by weapon type.
