When you dive into The First Descendant, you’ll quickly realize that farming Void Shards is one of the main grinds in the game. You need Void Shards for Void Fusion Reactors that allow you to open Amorphous Materials and unlock new characters and weapons.
Farming Void Shards is a relatively straightforward process in The First Descendant, but depending on the type of Void Shard and Descendants you own, some locations are better than others.

Best Void Shards farming locations in The First Descendant
Void Shards primarily drop from Void Fragment missions and are scattered across all the zones in The First Descendant. They look like red markers with an attribute icon indicating which Descendant type to use.
As of Hotfix 1.0.4, Void Shards also drop from Special Operations. Unfortunately, they drop fewer Void Shards and aren’t worth farming. Instead, you can play Void Fragments and try and get useful Modules at the same time.
There are four types of Void Shards in the game: Organic, Inorganic, Monomer, and Polymer. Different Void Fusion Reactors need different types of shards, so you have to hunt down Void Fragments that drop the ones you need.
Below is a list of the best Void Framents to farm for each Void Shard type and element. I recommend completing them on hard difficulty as you can get three times the Void Shards than on normal.
