How to make your Overwatch profile public or private

Alongside Overwatch’s Symmetra rework, Blizzard added a bunch of new features to the first-person shooter in the newest update.

One of those features is the ability to make your player profile private. The player profile has a bunch of information on your Overwatch history—win rate, most-played heroes, Competitive Play ranking.

For Overwatch’s first two years, all that information was available to other players. It’s not necessarily bad, but often the information was used to bully players off a certain role and onto a hero they play more often. The idea was that someone’s most played hero is their best hero, which isn’t always true.

The new update set Overwatch player profiles automatically to private, but there are also options to make profiles viewable to the public or Blizzard Battle.net friends. Here’s how to do it.

Navigate to Overwatch’s Option tab, and from there, click “Social.” Under the Social tab, there’s an option for “Career Profile Visibility.” The slider can be adjusted from “Private,” to “Friends Only,” to “Public.” Once the correct option is chosen, just close the menu and it’ll be saved. You won’t have to adjust anything again, unless you want to switch your profile settings.
