A new patch just went live in Overwatch 2, and it includes changes for four heroes.
Unluckily (or luckily, for some), the changes are all nerfs. One tank, two DPS, and one support hero have been hit with slight changes that will negatively affect their performance in season 12 and beyond.
Here’s everything changing in today’s OW2 update on Sept. 3, 2024.
OW2 patch notes today: Nerfs abound
Winston has had his damage per second on his Tesla Cannon primary fire reduced to 70, from 75. But he’s not the only hero who got a nerf in this minor update for OW2 in season 12.
Ashe also got a decently sized nerf today, with her reload time per bullet increased by 0.05 seconds, and her primary fire’s damage reduced to 35 from 40. Not to be outdone, fellow DPS hero Sombra’s Virus ability had its damage over time cut down to 75 from 90.
The final set of changes came to Juno, whose Mediblaster got tweaked in several ways. The SMG’s fire rate was increased from 14.3 to 15.5, while its damage dropped to 7.5 from eight, and healing from seven to 6.5.
The update also included a number of minor bug fixes, including one that was causing large FPS drops during the start and end of matches on PS5, a bug that was making badges and emblems display ranks incorrectly, and more.
In the minor update, Blizzard did not include any explanations for the changes in the patch notes. Instead, it appears the studio has addressed player complaints and issues directly with the patch and will continue to monitor the meta in the days and weeks to come.
