Power Spots are a new landmark in Pokémon Go that you can find while wandering around. They work similarly to a PokéStop, but there are significant differences, and they can be difficult to find while you play.

What makes Power Spots unique is that they can move around. After they land at a location, they disappear after a set amount of time, so you have to find them again. They might trip you up, because you interact with them similarly to PokéStops, but those have a set location. Here’s everything you need to know about finding Power Spots in Pokémon Go.

Power Spots can appear anywhere in Pokémon Go, and were introduced during the Max Out season. They can appear at the center of parks, on the side of streets, near buildings, or in the middle of a busy walkway. These locations are similar to PokéStops in that you can interact with them or click them while viewing the Nearby Menu at the bottom right of your screen, but they move around.

A Power Spot indicates where you can find a Dynamax Pokémon. But, currently, they aren’t available in-game.

When the timer on a Power Spot reaches zero, the Power Spot disappears and appears in a different location. If you find a Power Spot in the center of a park one day, when you return the next day, chances are it will be gone, and you’ll have to look elsewhere. The best way to find a Power Spot is to use the Nearby Menu on the bottom right of your screen. It you clues about where to go in your local area while playing Pokémon Go.

Power Spots do not replace any existing Gyms or PokéStops. You don’t have to worry about losing these precious locations—they’re here to stay. Make sure to visit any new Power Spot you find while playing Pokémon Go to get closer to your daily limit of Max Particles, giving you more opportunities to battle Dynamax Pokémon when they get added from Sept. 10.
