The main 2024 competitive VALORANT Champions Tour season’s wrapped up, which means it’s time for Rostermania—and there’s already heaps of action on the player market.
The end of VCT Champions marks the offseason for pro VALORANT allowing teams to begin shuffling their star-studded lineups. We’ve already seen some big moves from major players, with even a couple of successful squads making the tough decision to freshen up before the 2025 preseason begins in January with KICK//OFF.
Here’s a day-by-day rundown of every major VALORANT roster move.
All VALORANT 2024 postseason roster changes, by date
Sept. 20: Former Acend, Giants, and GIANTX coach/analyst Milan has joined Fnatic in an assistant coach role.
Sept. 19: Karmine Corp’s Magnum has been let go by the organization and enters restricted free agency.
Sept. 18: Stark’s contract with MOUZ ends in September but he is able to seek new opportunities in the interim, with a plan to switch to IGL.
Sept. 17: FURIA is cutting NZR, according to a report from VSpace. This is the second time NZR has left the organization; he was a part of the team’s original roster back in 2021.
Sept. 16: Acend, the organization that won the first ever VALORANT Champions trophy, announces it is exiting competitive VALORANT. “The increasingly hostile ecosystem has simply made it untenable to responsibly run a team,” the org said.
Sept. 15: A day after TenZ retires, Sentinels lose another to retirement with Brazilian star Sacy hanging up the mouse and keyboard.
Sept. 14: Sentinels star TenZ announces his retirement from competitive VALORANT, but says he will remain part of the organization as a content creator.
Sept. 13: In a sudden announcement, Sentinels star TenZ has announced his competitive retirement from VALORANT, and will instead pursue content creation for the organization.
Sept. 12: The majority of T1’s VALORANT Academy roster has been released.
Sept. 12: Streamer, content creator, and casting talent seangares has moved into the general manager role at Shopify Rebellion.
Sept. 11: Liquid head coach eMIL has been released by the organization. “To the fans, I know this year wasn’t what you wanted, but I still wish for continued success for Team Liquid, with or without me,” he said.
Sept. 10: Heat has been moved to inactive for KRU as the org proceeds without him.
Sept. 10: Karmine Corp player tomaszy is benched; will now seek alternate opportunities in VALORANT.
Sept. 7: DrewSpark, assistant coach for Sentinels, was informed he was no longer needed for 2025. “I want to thank Sentinels for trusting me to help lead SEN to new heights,” he said in a statement following the announcement. DrewSpark intends to remain in competitive VALORANT.
Sept. 7: ZETA DIVISION loses two more as hiroronn and Yuran seek alternate opportunities.
Sept. 6: GIANTX releases hoody and Fit1nho ahead of VCT 2025.
Sept. 6: Portuguese organization SAW has released its squad and coaching staff, effective immediately.
Sept. 5: Saadhak has had his contract date “adjusted to 2024,” allowing him to pursue other opportunities. Saadhak has been with LOUD since 2022 and was a piece of the roster that took home VCT Champions that year.
Sept. 3: Chilean player Mazino parts ways with Leviatán after two years. He and the team are “exploring an extension,” but in the interim, he has permission to test his value.
Sept. 3: Crashies will explore his options on the market after nearly two years at NRG’s helm.
Sept. 3: Starxo departs KOI and enters unrestricted free agency. “After all this time I know that I’m not scared to become a leader and one of the best IGLs. To the KOI fans, thank you and sorry for these two years,” he said in his departing statement.
Sept. 3: Fnatic drops hiro after a three-month stint that included this year’s VCT EMEA Stage Two title.
Aug. 30: Team Liquid shakes up the squad following a disappointing 2024 season, with Jamppi, Mistic, and Enzo all benched.
Aug. 30: NAVI makes its first move of the offseason, benching Zyppan who remains under contract but enters restricted free agency.
Aug. 29: French player TakaS splits from Gentle Mates. He remains under contract but has been told he can explore options for 2025.
Aug. 28: Derke departs FNATIC after three years and plans to enter free agency ahead of 2025.
Aug. 26: ZETA DIVISION’s Laz announces retirement, shift to streaming.
Aug. 25: VCT Champions concludes; EDward Gaming claims victory over Heretics.
Aug. 20: Team Secret farewells NDG, who plans to test both the Pacific and international markets.
Aug. 13: BLEED drops four members of the VALORANT squad including yay after failing to qualify for VCT Champions.
Aug. 10: Cloud9 releases vanity after the squad failed to qualify for VCT Champions.
Aug. 8: VCT NA kicks off rostermania early by releasing assistant coach MikesHD.
July 21, 25: Sayaplayer and Rossy depart T1 after the squad’s ill-fated VCT Pacific Stage Two campaign.
