There are many different types of resources that you’ll find in LEGO Fortnite, but in the new Lost Isles update, players will come across one of the shiniest rocks in the land: Gold Ore.

Gold Ore can be used in multiple different recipes for various weapons to defend yourself against enemies that gather around at night, but the rare resource can only be found in certain areas on the map. You will need to travel a bit in order to collect these ores, and you’ll also need some pretty hefty tools to harvest them from the deposits.

If you’re hunting around for some good old gold, here is how to get Gold Ore in LEGO Fortnite.

To find Gold Ore in LEGO Fortnite, head over to the new Lost Isles region on your map. You can find the Lost Isles by traveling directly to the area via the Fast Travel Bus Station, or by exploring the world until you start to see new plants and wildlife in the area.

You’ll know that you’ve found the Lost Isles region because you should also spot some floating islands in the sky, which is where most of the Gold Ore will be found on the map. You should be able to reach the floating islands by using a nearby geyser to blast yourself up, but make sure that you’ve crafted yourself a basic glider or were given one by Haven so you don’t die on landing.

You can also build some stairs to the platform if you’re unable to find a geyser, but that will use a lot of unnecessary resources that can be saved by simply using what the island gives you. If you eventually build yourself an Airship, however, you can save yourself a ton of time by flying to the individual deposits without having to jump around and risk falling.

On these floating islands, beware of a ton of different dangers you’ll need to avoid. Besides an annoying fall from a great height, there are plenty of little creatures that’ll deal chip damage to you if you’re distracted by the Gold Ore, such as spiders and scorpions. There are also explosive plants scattered around that could knock you off a platform, along with a terrifying Golem or two on the bigger floating islands. The Lost Isles have plenty of gold for you, yes. But it doesn’t come without its risks.

How to harvest Gold Ore in LEGO Fortnite

Unfortunately, you cannot harvest Gold Ore with a regular base pickaxe. Instead, you’ll have to craft a Rare-tier Pickaxe or higher to break the deposit and collect its rewards. It is much more efficient to use an Epic-tier Pickaxe, since it will cut down the amount of time you’ll need to break the ore, especially when there are many different creatures looking to do you harm.

Luckily, there should be plenty of deposits on smaller floating islands without Golems, so you’ll just have to clear out weaker enemies before finally putting your head down and chipping away at those resources. Eventually, you should have enough to build some great weapons, such as the Throwing Spear, Explorer’s Machete, Flintlock Pistol, and Pirate Musket, so that you’re much more prepared for a fight in the future.
