Top EU Mids Carry Their Teams To Success: EU LCS Week 1, Day 3 Recap

The first week of the EU LCS has concluded with a final day of action. The three EU teams that made it to Worlds all played today and this is how they played.

The three teams that made it to the World Championship from the European League Championship Series last year all played today. G2 Esports took on a fresh ROCCAT team in their second series of the split, while H2k-Gaming looked to take down their main rival Splyce in Group B. Here’s how the third day of the first week in the EU LCS went down.

 (0-1) Team ROCCAT 0-2 G2 Esports (2-0)

ROCCAT opened up an early lead with both First Blood and First Turret, putting the defending champions behind. G2 won a big team fight to turn the game around and give themselves a lead. G2 brilliantly used their global team composition to gain a numbers advantage in any figh, cruising to an easy victory and ending the game with a 16,000 gold lead.

In game two of the series, G2 got the lead early in the game as they used yet another global team composition to win across the map. G2 continued to win fights and their macro play was outstanding. They closed out the game to win the series in a commanding 2-0 fashion.

My MVP for the series is Luka “Perkz” Perković. After a disappointing first series against Fnatic, Perkz came back in day two with something to prove. He played fantastic on LeBlanc in both games and rendered his mid lane opponent extremely ineffective. Perkz ended the series with a 29 KDA.

(2-0) H2k-Gaming 2-0 Splyce (0-1)

H2k took a strong early start to the game and was taking inner turrets pre-13 minutes. H2k continued to roll, taking an inhibitor before 20 minutes into the game, and earning a large gold lead. H2k completely dominated Splyce and finished the game in under 30 minutes.

Though Splyce picked a surprising and exciting team composition in the second game of the series, H2k kept a calm head and took an early lead with Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski helping secure First Blood yet again. H2k cruised to an easy win, as their team play was immaculate and Splyce had no chance in the series. H2k took a very clean 2-0 win.

My MVP for the series is Fabian “Febiven” Diepstraten. He came in looking to prove he is still one of the top mid laners in Europe, and he proved that point in this series against another one of Europe’s top mid’s Chres “Sencux” Laursen. He finished with a KDA of 14.
