Christopher “MonteCristo” Mykles and Erik “DoA“ Lonnquist will cease casting OGN’s LCK, according to an article posted on FOMOS.
Both MonteCristo and DoA have casted Korean League of Legends for over three years, and were essential figures in Korean LoL’s rise in popularity in the west. Many iconic moments in LoL history, such as the Korean hype train and the one man cast, were created by these two. Among the casting talent in LoL, MonteCristo and DoA were two of the most beloved within the LoL community.
MonteCristo and DoA will now be focusing their efforts on OGN’s APEX season two, Korea’s Overwatch league. In their absence, Chris “Papa Smithy” Smith and Seth “Achilios” King, who were already casting the LCK, as well as an unknown third person who has yet to be announced, will take over the English broadcast of the LCK.
This is the first time any major casters have left League of legends since Leigh “Deman” Smith and Joe Miller’s departure from the EU LCS broadcasting team back in 2014.
