All competitive Overwatch seasons must come to an end. Season 11 is scheduled to close on Aug. 28 at 7pm CT.
But as always, it’s only a few days until the next competitive season begins. Season 12 will boot up on Aug. 31 at 7pm CT, three days after the end of season 11.

Any player that completes all placement matches for season 11 will receive a spray and player icon for their efforts. (These unlock automatically once you’ve logged in after the season ends.) Top 500 players for each platform—PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One—will earn a special icon and an animated spray for their efforts. Top 500 players, however, must have Blizzard Protect enabled on their accounts to be eligible to get into the special tier.
Sprays and icons are all well and good, but competitive points are also handed out after the season ends, which are used to unlock golden weapons. Here’s how the points break down for season 11.
Ranking | Points earned |
SR 1-1499 (Bronze) | 65 CP |
SR 1500-1999 (Silver) | 125 CP |
SR 2000-2499 (Gold) | 250 CP |
SR 2500-2999 (Platinum) | 500 CP |
SR 3000-3499 (Diamond) | 750 CP |
SR 3500-3999 (Master) | 1200 CP |
SR 4000-5000 (Grandmaster) | 1750 CP |
Overwatch’s Summer Games event is ongoing until Aug. 30. Over the course of the three weeks it’s been up—the event started on Aug. 9—the Summer Games event introduced fans to new skins and brought back fan-favorite game mode Lúcioball. Once the Summer Games event is over, all the seasonal content will be stuffed back into the vault, likely until next summer. Think of the competitive Overwatch offseason as a gift: Now you can dedicate all your time to playing Lúcioball.
