Since Riot Games teased the next agent coming to VALORANT in the first act of Episode Five, there has been plenty of rumors regarding the background of the new character.
In an exchange of emails with Brimstone in the game, Fade called the new agent Varun Batra and used the noun “he,” meaning Varun Batra is almost certainly a male agent.
The last name Batra is a Hindu and Sikh name of unknown meaning based on the name of a clan in the Arora community, giving more insight into where the next agent could be from.
Riot has made sure to create agents from around the world and introduce cultures not yet seen in the video game space. This could also be the case if Varun Batra turns out to be an agent from India, which would be a first for VALORANT. Varuna, a similar first name, also has Hindu significance. The name comes from the Hindu Puranas, where Varuna is the god of the oceans.
The teaser image for Mage showed a boat in front of the Gateway of India, which is located in Mumbai, as well as the Taj hotel. Mumbai’s top-rated hotel is drawn on the right page of the book in the image. Finally, the map drawn on the bottom right of the book is of India to Kolkata or Bangladesh.
