Cross-progression is one of the delights that Blizzard brought in for Overwatch 2. This nugget of gold lets players keep their progress when switching from one platform to another. All you have to do is make sure your Battle.net is merged.

Fortunately, your progression from the first Overwatch title will carry over.

For cross-progression to work, players will need to merge all of their accounts under one Battle.net account. Players have been able to merge their accounts since Aug. 16, 2022, so there’s no need to wait, your chance to merge is here.

Here’s how to merge existing Overwatch 2 accounts into one Battle.net account.

To merge your accounts, you’ll need to chuck all your consoles and whatnot on your Battle.net account. Head to the Battle.net Connections tab where you’ll have to sign in. Once you’ve typed in your details, you’ll be able to click on the desired platform you wish to connect to. If you’re having issues, head to the Battle.net Support section to see how they can assist you. If you would rather have different console accounts linked to your Battle.net, make sure you adjust them before proceeding to the merge step.

As soon as you’ve linked what you needed to link, hop into Overwatch 2 from your console. A prompt will appear on your screen, asking you to scan the QR code with your phone. Once that’s done, a numeric code will pop up, requiring you to punch those when asked to log into Battle.net. The process will require you to add a phone number for text verification to keep your account away from pesky hackers.

Once you’ve finished these steps, the next time you log into your Overwatch 2 console account, you’ll be asked to confirm the merge. Be careful since you can only merge one account from each console platform to your Battle.net account and you can’t undo the merge. When your accounts are merged, they’ll all share the same cosmetics, stats, settings presets, and ranks.

Repeat this process for each separate console account that you have. You can merge one Xbox account, one PlayStation account, and one Nintendo Switch account to your Battle.net account. You can’t merge two PC accounts or two separate Battle.net accounts together, though.
