Wanderer is a strong Anemo DPS character in Genshin with a unique playstyle. He’s a hypercarry who benefits from being on the field most of the time, dealing massive damage. This means he needs a lot of investment and good supports to buff him.

How to build Wanderer in Genshin Impact

Weapons

Every DPS needs proper tools to perform well. Wanderer is a Catalyst unit with many weapon options for both free-to-play players and spenders.

These are the best weapons for Wanderer in Genshin:

  1. Tulaytullah’s Remembrance (five-star signature weapon)
  2. Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds (five-star)
  3. Skyward Atlas (five-star)
  4. Memory of Dust (five-star)
  5. The Widsith (four-star)
  6. Mappa Mare (four-star)

His best weapon is Tulaytullah’s Remembrance, which is his signature Catalyst. It gives a ton of CRIT damage and increases the damage and attack speed of his normal attacks for 14 seconds. Wanderer’s signature weapon has perfect synergy with him, so getting it is a good investment.

While his signature weapon is really good, any other Catalyst with a CRIT stat does the trick. Weapons like Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds and Skyward Atlas are great options and you can get them from the Standard banner, but one of his best weapons is actually a four-star. The Widsith is a four-star weapon that offers a lot of CRIT damage and increases his base damage by 120 percent, making it the bread and butter for Wanderer.

Artifact sets

The core of every build lies in getting good artifacts. Unlike other DPS characters, Wanderer has a lot of artifact options, making him very flexible.

Here are the best artifact options for Wanderer in Genshin:

  1. Desert Pavilion Chronicle (four-piece)
  2. Shimenawa’s Reminiscence (four-piece)
  3. Echoes of an Offering (four-piece)
  4. Desert Pavilion Chronicle (two-piece) and Viridescent Venerer (two-piece)

Desert Pavilion Chronicle is tailored for Wanderer, and you can farm it in the mines of The Chasm. The set increases Anemo damage and normal attack speed by 15 percent, which is exactly what Wanderer wants.

If you’re looking to boost your Elemental Skill and normal attack damage, then Shimenawa’s Reminiscence is for you. The only downside of this Genshin artifact set is you won’t use Elemental Burst as often, as it sacrifices Energy Regeneration for more damage. There are also good combinations with two-pieces that offer raw stats, but going for his best-in-slot set is always worth it.

Artifact stats and substats

As an Anemo hypercarry who scales with attack, Wanderer’s main artifact stats are straightforward. These are the main stats you should look for while farming his artifacts:

  • Sands: ATK percent
  • Goblet: Anemo DMG or ATK percent
  • Circlet: CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG

The main stats are important, but what makes them shine brighter are good substats. While you farm for artifacts, look for CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, and ATK percent as your substats. The more of those substats you have, the more damage you’ll deal, but they’re usually hard to get, so farming them might take a while.

Best Wanderer teams in Genshin Impact

Since Wanderer is a flexible hypercarry, he has a lot of viable team compositions. His usual team consists of a sub-DPS, healer, and buffer, as it’s the optimal way to unlock his full potential.

These are the best Wanderer teams in Genshin:

4) Wanderer, Thoma, Bennet, Faruzan

This is the best free-to-play team for Wanderer and it has everything. Considering Wanderer is very squishy, a shielder like Thoma who can protect him and deal damage at the same time is a perfect fit. Combined with the best support in the game, Bennet, you have a perfect Pyro resonance. Faruzan is the final piece of this team, as she’s there to buff Wanderer’s Anemo damage even more.

3) Wanderer, Yelan, Rosaria, Faruzan

With Yelan’s big off-field damage and Hydro application combined with Rosaria’s Cryo Elemental Burst, this freeze team is incredible. You don’t need a shielder or a healer because your opponents will constantly be frozen, so you won’t take any damage. As a cherry on top, Faruzan boosts Wanderer’s Anemo damage and helps him regenerate energy.

2) Wanderer, Zhongli, Bennet, Faruzan

This is one of the most popular and comfortable Wanderer teams. Zhongli is the best shielder there is, and with him on the team, everything’s a breeze. If his shields aren’t enough, Bennet is there to provide massive buffs and heals, making your Wanderer immortal.

This is the strongest Wanderer team, and it’s mostly used in Spiral Abyss. As your main DPS, Wanderer benefits from all the buffs. Yelan is there to deal off-field damage while Bennet and Faruzan buff and heal. The best part of this team is Wanderer absorbs two elements through his passive, which further increases his damage.
