Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends, the free-to-play battle royale set in the Titanfall universe, has officially hit 50 million players worldwide.
The game was released almost exactly one month ago and it’s already become a smash hit in the gaming world, even after its initial honeymoon period. It’s been nicknamed the “Fortnite killer,” and for good reason. It’s come out of the gates swinging, attracting a newfound player base, hitting huge numbers on Twitch, and even breaking viewership records.
The game had been in the works for over a year, but after its release on Feb. 4, it immediately hit the mainstream. The game reached 10 million downloads in its first three days, before breaking 25 million after a week. It has now surpassed 50 million players—and it doesn’t look like Apex will stop any time soon.
“Thank you to the 50 million players that have shown up in the first month since Apex Legends launched,” CEO of Respawn Entertainment Vince Zampella said on Twitter. “You have all made this something special and there’s much more to come.”

The Apex Twitter account posted a highlight video revealing the game’s 50 million player landmark. The video featured streamers reacting to the game, as well as a handful of interesting statistics. There’s apparently been 158 million finishers used, 1.23 billion ultimates activated, 31 billion pings placed, and 170 million respawns.
