When you die in Apex Legends, all that’s left behind is a big box with your name containing all the items you carefully looted to set up your perfect loadout for the battle royale.

The purpose of these death boxes is not only to allow teammates and enemies to pick up all the loot you left behind but also so your teammates can have a chance to revive you by retrieving your player banner. If a teammate has another player’s banner, they can go respawn them at a Respawn Beacon, where they’ll drop back down to the map.

However, you can’t let your teammate sit on their death box forever. Every kill has a timer, and once that timer ticks down, you can no longer collect the banner directly from the box. Instead, you’ll have to craft your teammate’s banner from scratch.

To craft a fallen teammate’s banner in Apex, you’ll have to find a Replicator. These drop at various points during the match and are in some areas of the map from the beginning.

Apex has done away with crafting materials, so you don’t need to worry about gathering enough to be able to create a banner. You’ll be able to just open the Replicator’s interface and choose what banner to craft. After the Replicator spits out the banner, you’ll have to pick it up and then deliver it to a Respawn Beacon to get your teammate back.

Crafting respawn banners is only available for squads that have a support legend on their Legend roster. Any squad made up of a composition with no support legends won’t have the option to craft banners, and you’ll instead always have to collect a banner from a death box before it times out if you want to revive a teammate.

If you want the option to craft banners, here are the legends you can pick. Just one of these legends has to be on your team so any other teammate can craft banners:

  • Gibraltar
  • Lifeline
  • Loba
  • Newcastle
  • Mirage
  • Conduit

This makes support an extremely valuable legend class to include on your Apex team. Aside from their other helpful abilities, like Lifeline’s healing drone and Conduit’s shields, being able to craft banners also gives their entire team a big step up. Remember that if you have a support legend on your team and you die, you shouldn’t leave the match once the timer ticks down on your death box. Your teammate can—and should—try to save you.
