Respawn Entertainment confirmed that new Apex Legends modes are on the way in the future. Details on these upcoming modes are scarce at the moment, however.
The developer recently released an update on Apex, noting various topics like what’s to come in season two and so on. A Reddit user followed up in the update thread with several questions of their own, asking whether Respawn is planning “new ways to play” the game.
Respawn community manager Jay “Jayfresh” Frechette responded to this question by saying “the short answer is: yes. That’s all I can say.” We don’t know much more than that regarding the “new ways to play,” but it’s reassuring to have confirmation on new modes in the future.
But that wasn’t the only question that Frechette responded to from the Reddit user. The user also inquired about Respawn’s plans for long-term progression. All that Frechette said about this was that the developer is listening to feedback and will say more in June, likely at E3 2019.
The final question—that elicited a substantial response, at least—was regarding the pace of the game. The user brought up how there are slow periods in the middle of a match where nothing happens as teams just wait for the next ring to move in.
“In the live game with millions of active players, there is very little reason to not hot-drop into Skulltown or a supply ship, thereby leaving mid-round feeling very empty,” Frechette said. “This is actually a very nuanced and interesting design challenge which we have lots of ideas in development to help address it.”
We’ll likely find out more about these ideas at the EA Play E3 2019 event.
