Knowing smoke grenade lineups in CS2 will separate you from all the other players on the server as it allows you to run setpieces and run all sorts of different strategies on the fly. But, in order to memorize the lineups, you’ll need to save some time to practice smokes in CS2.
The best way to practice smokes in CS2 is by setting up a private dedicated server as you’re able to customize it with some key commands that will make all the difference.

Setting up a private server to practice smokes in CS2
In CS2, just like CS:GO, you can set a private server on any map you want and use it for practice purposes, whether that is training grenades or executions with your friends.
Once the practice server is created, there are over 10 commands you’ll want to utilize before start practicing smokes.
The best smoke practice commands in CS2
To customize your private server all you need to do is open the console and start inserting the commands below:
- sv_cheats 1 – Turn cheats on, which will make all the commands work.
- bot_kick – remove all bots.
- mp_warmup_end – ends warm-up period.
- mp_freezetime 0 – sets freezetime to zero.
- mp_roundtime 60 – the round will last one hour.
- mp_maxmoney 60000 – allows players to have $60,000 in-game and buy everything.
- mp_startmoney 60000 – gives player $60,000 right in the first round
- sv_infinite_ammo 1 – infinite ammo for weapons, including grenades.
- sv_showimpacts 1 – Shows bullet impacts.
- sv_showimpacts_time 10 – Extends the visibility of your bullet impacts for 10 seconds.
- sv_grenade_trajectory_prac_pipreview 1 – Allows you to see where the grenade will land
- ammo_grenade_limit_total 5 – Allows you to pick up all five grenades instead of just four.
- mp_restartgame 1 – restarts the game.
- Alternatively, you can download my own practice cfg and place it on your CS2 folder instead of typing these commands every time.
How to practice smokes in CS2
Now that the custom server is up and ready to be used, all you need to do is start throwing smokes.
The new practice feature allows you to see where the grenade will land, which will save you a lot of time, as you can see in the video below as you no longer have to keep trying until nailing it.
