Have you ever wondered if there is anything that could make Johnny and V’s friendship even more wholesome? Well, there is. The duo can adopt a cat together.

Nibbles is a cat that can be domesticated and will live in V’s apartment. Getting the little guy is actually super quick and painless, provided you know what to look out for and what to do. There isn’t any job or gig trackers, so you’re kind of left to figure everything out on your own. Unless, of course, you know a certain someone who can tell you how to do it…

How to adopt Nibbles in Cyberpunk 2077

Technically, the entire process takes place on the same floor in Megabuilding 10 as V’s apartment. In fact, you don’t even have to leave the hallway. With that said, you do need a very specific and rare cat food—so unless that’s something you carry around, you will have to make a pit stop first.

Where to get cat food for Nibbles

It’s entirely possible that there are multiple locations to get cat food, but I only found one. In any event, I am certain that it’s the closest shop to V’s apartment that sells cat food.

If you move your cursor straight north from V’s apartment, you’ll see a little roundabout area in Kabuki that has a food vendor, a weapon vendor, and a netrunner vendor. The food vendor in this Kabuki roundabout (which is called Buck-a-Slice) sells cat food, and it’s only about a 30 second drive from V’s apartment.

The item itself is genuinely just called Cat Food, and it is considered a Consumable for sorting purposes. You only need to purchase one Cat Food to adopt Nibbles.

How to feed Nibbles the cat

Now that you’ve got your Cat Food, head back to Megabuilding 10. Take a left after exiting your apartment, and follow that hallway until it turns to the right. Immediately after turning right, you will see a row of dumpsters with a red trash barrel past them.

Approach the red trash barrel, which has a readable slate labeled “Feed Teh Cat” inside of it. No, that isn’t a typo. It says “teh.”

This slate explains that the cat’s name is Nibbles, and he only likes one specific brand of Cat Food. Good thing you’ve already got it (if you got to this point without Cat Food, that’s fine—you just have to go buy it now).

After you have read the slate, you will have a prompt to place food in the cat bowl, which is on the floor by the barrel. Place the Cat Food in the bowl, and now you just have to wait.

Check back after placing the cat food

I waited for 24 hours, and Nibbles wasn’t there yet. Then I went and completed a random gig, and he was. If you are impatient, wait for two days in V’s apartment and then return to the cat bowl. Otherwise, go complete a job and then check back.

When you return to the bowl after enough time has passed, Nibbles is at the bowl eating his special favorite Cat Food. Johnny, like any normal person would, says, “Look. Hey, look. You see that?” In a very serious tone. I mean, how do you react when you see a cat?

Approach Nibbles, and follow the prompt to pet him. A time jump will transition to V petting Nibbles in a laundry basket in their apartment, and Johnny (keeping in line with his normal human behavior) will say, “Well, there it is, V.” I mean, what do you say when you adopt a cat?

Anyway, Nibbles is now your pet, and will permanently reside in your apartment.
