Two of the Halo franchise’s iconic protagonists in Master Chief and the Arbiter will join the rapidly growing roster of Fall Guys characters during the Spartan Showdown event that will take place between June 30 and July 4.
The Spartan Showdown will be the first major in-game event of Fall Guys’ free-to-play era, which officially begins on June 21 when the bean-populate battle royale/game show goes free-to-play for PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.
The trailer for the event, a clever callback to the iconic “Believe” trailer for Halo 3 released over 10 years ago, shows full costumes for both Master Chief and the Arbiter, as well as a grunt costume and a Spartan helmet headpiece.
The team at Mediatonic, which was acquired by Epic Games in March 2021, hasn’t released any specific details about unlocking the Halo-themed items just yet. But based on how the devs have run previous events, players will likely have to complete a series of specific challenges to unlock each item. Because the game will be free-to-play, there might be an option to just buy the items outright as well.
Prior to Fall Guys’ free-to-play launch, players can pre-register for the game on the Epic Games Store and unlock free cosmetics for every total registration milestone they hit, including a nameplate, Kudos (in-game currency), the Burgers pattern, the Muscleman emote, and the Melonhead costume. All players will require an Epic Games account to play the game once it’s free-to-play, but having one will allow players to keep their progress and items tied to one account if they choose to play on different platforms.
