One of the most important tasks in the Pirates of the Caribbean Cursed Sails Fortnite event is to plunder gold bars. This is a quest with 10 stages, which means you have to know how to navigate through it if you want to claim all special event rewards.
Although this task sounds tricky, it’s actually a lot easier than you might expect. It does require patience and a decent amount of effort, though, so here’s how to plunder gold bars in the Pirates of the Caribbean Cursed Sails Fortnite event.
Plunder gold bars in Fortnite, explained
To plunder gold bars in Fortnite, you just need to collect gold bars in any way you can. Plunder simply means to steal, so this task is a lot simpler than the wording sounds since you can obtain gold bars in many different ways.
All of the ways you can earn gold bars in Fortnite for this quest are as follows:
- Opening cash registers.
- Eliminating oponnents. This includes players and NPCs like the Pirates of the Caribbean NPCs, Wasteland guards, and bosses.
- Looting any kind of chest.
- Completing bounties.
- Throwing a Shield Breaker EMP at a vending machine.
- Drinking Nuka-Cola.
- Breaking gold piles around the Pirates of the Caribbean POIs.
Out of these methods, the one I’ve found most effective for quickly plundering gold is throwing Shield Breaker EMPs at vending machines. If you have three Shield Breaker EMPs, which is the amount you get from picking one up, you can throw all three at a vending machine to get 300 gold. Most of the other methods only award around 20 gold bars at a time, so this is easily the most effective way to navigate through this task quickly.
Another one of the best methods is breaking gold piles around the Pirates of the Caribbean POIs. These are essentially sacks of treasure with gold spilling out of them that you can break using your pickaxe.
You can only plunder gold bars when you’re below the maximum 5,000 you can carry at once, which means you do need to occasionally spend some to make room so you can collect more. Gold bars can be spent in many ways like buying goods from the Pirates of the Caribbean Cursed Sails NPCs or spending at any vending machines you find around the map.
