After taking the first half of the Spring Split off, then playing a brief stint as Team Liquid’s AD carry for latter half, Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng is finally making his return to Team SoloMid.

Following an unsuccessful run at the 2016 World Championship, Doublelift chose to take a break from competitive play, deciding to explore a life in streaming instead of participating in the NA LCS 2017 Spring Split.

But midway through his break, Doublelift realized that the streaming life wasn’t for him. To quell his thirst for competitive play and “derust” himself for summer, Doublelift joined Team Liquid on a temporary basis, where he helped the 10th-place team avoid relegation.

Plays like this are a big reason why Doublelift’s return is significant.

Now back in the TSM family, Doublelift will return to Los Angeles, where he will stay at an apartment close to the team house, the organization announced. There, Doublelift will be reintegrated into the team’s scrim schedule.

Heading into summer, Doublelift and Jason “WildTurtle” Tran, TSM’s current AD carry “will be expected to focus on different playstyles and will be fielded according to the strategy [TSM] plans to use,” the organization said in a statement.

Doublelift will not be participating at this year’s Mid-Season Invitational, but will instead resume playing with TSM at the start of the upcoming Summer Split.

“After last season’s Worlds, I was overwhelmed by the weight of my massive underperformance when it mattered most,” Doublelift said in the announcement. “Coming back into LCS, my only priority is to win worlds and nothing else.”
