OpTic Gaming’s Noh “Arrow” Dong-hyeon is looking for a new team, the AD carry revealed earlier today via Twitter.
Although Arrow’s contract doesn’t expire until Nov. 18, according to Riot Games’ global contract database, OpTic gave him permission “to explore other team possibilities,” Arrow explained in his tweet. Although he seems intent on leaving OpTic, Arrow called his time with the organization “a good experience.”
This is the first roster move since the 2018 NA LCS Summer Split concluded on Sept. 16. It’s unknown at this time if Arrow intends to stay in the NA LCS, return to the LCK, or try playing in a new region.
Arrow first joined the NA LCS in the beginning of 2017 as Phoenix1’s ADC. And his NA LCS debut split was fantastic. Arrow shined in the lethality era, playing almost exclusively Jhin and Varus in the 2017 Spring Split. His play was recognized by pundits, and he was awarded the 2017 Spring Split MVP.
Arrow remained with Phoenix1 for the entirety of 2017 before moving to OpTic Gaming once franchising hit the NA LCS. Arrow saw lackluster results during his time on OpTic—his team was unable to reach the playoffs in either split.
With the 2018 offseason just over a month away, expect more announcements like Arrow’s tweet to be released following the World Championship. According the Riot’s contract database, most NA LCS contracts that are set to end this year will expire on either Nov. 17, 18, or 19.
OpTic has yet to comment on Arrow’s announcement.
