One of the brightest stars competing at the highest level of professional League of Legends in North America may be moving on from the org he’s called home for the last three seasons.
Cloud9 ADC Berserker is leaving the team despite being under contract until November 2025, according to a report by Sheep Esports. This news follows reports last week that C9 mid laner Jojopyun may be “fired” by the org due to repeated instances of tardiness in the 2024 competitive League season.
Berserker joined C9 in November 2021, making his LCS debut in the 2022 Spring Split. The 21-year-old was a part of the T1 academy and development teams before making the move to NA. During his time with C9, he helped the team win the 2022 LCS Championship and the 2023 Spring Playoffs, while also making two appearances at Worlds in 2022 and 2023.
This year, though, C9 fell short of qualifying for Worlds again, despite making numerous roster changes—including the additions of Jojopyun and Vulcan ahead of the 2024 season and bringing in South Korean top lane prospect Thanatos to replace Fudge before the Summer Split. C9 came in second place in the 2024 LCS Summer Split with a 6-1 record, but ended up finishing fourth in the ensuing playoffs after losing to FlyQuest and 100 Thieves—who will both represent NA at Worlds 2024 alongside Team Liquid.
At time of writing, C9 has yet to confirm the reported departure of Berserker—or Jojopyun, for that matter. If these roster moves become official, however, C9 fans will need to start preparing to face the reality of a massive overhaul ahead of the 2025 season.
