If you want to be competitive in MyCAREER, you need to play the metagame to at least some extent, and it all begins with player creation. Regardless of your preferred position, we have the best MyPLAYER builds in NBA 2K25.
With so many different possible NBA 2K25 playstyles, it’s near impossible to cover all of them in one place, but we tried our best. We have playmakers, scorers, athletic wings, stretch bigs, and brawley center builds all lined up to pick from. If you like a certain build but play a different position, then you can simply adjust our recommendations to fit with that position.
We kept the free throw attribute relatively low on all builds because we count on the player to nail the timing even on a lower stat. If you’re not confident in your release timing, you can upgrade free throws to a comfortable level. You will of course miss out on another stat in the process though, so make sure you pick which one takes the hit wisely.

Pretty much every elite point guard in the NBA today can be described as a scoring playmaker. We thought it fitting to build one such player. Our Shot-Creating 3-Level Threat has nearly maxed out handles and three-pointers, is very good at scoring in the mid-range and in the paint, and is quick and agile enough to be a menace in transition, as well as half court. He can pass too!
You won’t be posterizing anyone with this point guard build, and perimeter defense is only average at best, but the trade-off of having nearly every trick in your offensive bag is completely worth it.

The best shooting guard build, also known as the three-and-D build, will turn you into everybody’s favorite teammate. You’d be at least adequate in every aspect besides rebounding. You won’t be able to pull off dribble moves like our PG build could, but the shooting and inside scoring is still there; plus you can now dunk on fools left and right.
We called this a three-and-D build, so of course, the biggest improvement compared to our point guard is perimeter defense. You get access to three defensive Hall of Fame badges, including everyone’s favorite, Glove, and two more Gold badges to boot. You can defend, you can score, you can dunk, you can even dribble a little—what more can you ask from a shooting guard?

Small forwards can really be anything, but for our NBA 2K25 build here, we went with an athletic slasher. This small forward was created in a laboratory with the specific purpose of dunking on people’s heads. We managed to squeeze not one, but two Legend badges—just to make sure no defender can stand between us and the rim.
In the rare moments when you’re not delivering posters, you’ll have your trusty mid-range jumpshot to bail you out. You’re not exactly a sniper with this build, but your jumper from inside the arc is a serviceable backup. On the other end, you’ll have nearly the same defensive stats as our three-and-D guy, with the additional advantage of being three inches taller and having a five inches wider wingspan. Defend, run the court, dunk—sounds good to us.

Stretching the floor is the name of the game for modern power forwards, and well, we didn’t want to be out of fashion. Our shooting big is by no means a one-trick pony, though. He can score inside, he can play solid interior defense, he can rebound with the best of them, and he’s built like a brick.
Considering you’ll be playing a lot around the perimeter, we made sure he’s quick and agile for the task. Just don’t try to dribble or throw around fancy passes and you’ll be all right.

This one’s for the old school fans. We took care of the stretch big role at the four and can go all bully ball at the five. This center will push and shove his way to a bucket and lock down your own paint. He’s a tenacious rebounder too, and to top it all off, he can even knock down mid-range jumpshots.
The one glaring weakness here’s speed and lateral movement. Admittedly, this build can feel stiff, especially for players not used to playing with tanky bruisers. You can bump up the speed and agility if that bothers you too much, but we personally don’t consider the downgrade of other key attributes to be a fair trade as you’ll still be comparatively slow regardless.
Creating a MyPLAYER is only the tip of the MyCAREER iceberg. If you’re building a shooter, you’ll want the best jumpshot in NBA 2K25 or all those shooting attributes will go to waste. If you’re a slasher, then you’ll almost assuredly find worth in contact dunks. Why be athletic if you can’t posterize people? Then there are badges and takeovers, and you get the point. You do need a solid foundation for any of this to matter, though, and we’ve hopefully provided it.
