In a move announced by Rick Fox, owner of Echo Fox, Chris “Xcells” Hill, Kevin “Soto” Soto, Joshua “Krash” Galan Dylan “speedy” Winston and Charlie “Fragou7” McLaughlin, along with head coach Jovon White, will be representing the organization for the near future.
Fox, a three-time NBA champion, said that he’s been watching Gears of War for quite some time as an esport, and saw that this roster shared some of his championship DNA.
“After watching the excitement of the Pro Circuit stop in Columbus, I knew this was an esport Echo Fox had to be a part of,” Fox said. “These players proved last weekend with their third place finish that they have the potential to be the top team in GoW. I love the attitude that Soto, Speedy, Fragou7, Krash and Xcells play with and I believe they fit in with our goal of building championship teams.”
Current CEO of Echo Fox, Jace Hall, echoed Fox’s praise, saying that this team stepped up to the plate for its first event, and he is excited to be a part of the Gears community.
“Any time you can bring a top three team in the world into your organization, you have to take it,” Hall said. “This team proved to us in Columbus that despite only playing together for two weeks, they are already one of the best teams in the world. Microsoft Studios has made tremendous strides in developing opportunities for the competitive community surrounding the Gears franchise. As Echo Fox continues to expand it’s presence across esports, it is very excited to participate in the Gears community and support all the great player talent that it is finding there.”

At the MLG Columbus Open, this roster took down eUnited, Revenge, and Epsilon eSports en route to a third place finish under two powerhouse organizations in OpTic Gaming and Team EnVyUs.
Coach White was happy that his team found a home with a large and successful organization like Echo Fox, and hopes to add a few titles to Fox’s championship trophy case.
“The team and I are overwhelmingly excited to be joining such an amazing esports organization in Echo Fox,” White said. “They’ve created a great environment for us to succeed and we can’t wait to get to work and bring home many titles.”
Echo Fox’s next event will be at the GFinity London Open this Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 10-11. Due to the qualification requirements via pro points, they will be placed in the open bracket as they barely missed the three team North American cut-off, but they are one of the favorites to qualify out of the open bracket and into pool play.
