More than 50 video games—and their in-game content—will be available for purchase today on Twitch, the company announced.
Twitch announced the feature in late February with just a few dozen games available through the purchase link feature. But when the feature goes live, purchase links for more than 50 games will be popping up on Twitch. Games included in Twitch’s launch roll-out include Ubisoft’s For Honor, Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead and Minecraft: Story Mode, Hi-Rez Studios’ Smite and Paladins, Double Fine Productions’ Broken Age and Psychonauts, and Campo Santo’s Firewatch.
Users will be able to download and play their games through the Twitch Desktop App or through existing developer or publisher-operated services, Twitch said in a press release.
Partnered Twitch streamers who opt into the commerce program will earn five percent of sales that originate from their channels; developers will earn 70 percent of the sale, while Twitch will take the remaining 25 percent.
Anyone who buys a game that costs $4.99 or more will earn a Twitch Crate with their purchase. Twitch Crates offer consumers rewards for buying their video games through Twitch—handing out stuff like emotes, badges, and Bits for Cheering. But Twitch is also offering entrance into its latest giveaway promotion until the end of April to those who make purchases through Twitch.
Sales are only purchasable with United States dollars, but Twitch will offer localized purchases “in the near future.” Twitch has not yet announced an official release date for the commerce feature, but noted it is coming very soon.
UPDATE April 4, 2017 at 3:15pm CT: The feature is now live on Twitch.
