Dallas Fuel owner Mike Rufail is preparing the team for the second Overwatch League season. Rufail announced this afternoon that Team Envy is “building out” a new training facility for the team. Season two of the Overwatch League is expected to begin in 2019.
Rufail also noted that six players have been “optioned” to stay with the team for season two. More details are expected next week. “I will also say this, I am feeling very good about our entire team from managers, to coaches, to players,” Rufail wrote on Twitter. “We are a unit headed into 2019.”

Dallas Fuel had nine players at the end of the Overwatch League’s first season. Former Dallas Fuel player Brandon “Seagull” Larned retired from professional Overwatch earlier in August and he now streams full-time. Eight players remain ahead of the free agency period. A player being “optioned” likely means that both parties have extended their contract for season two. We’ve reached out to Dallas Fuel to confirm.
The Overwatch League’s roster signing period is well underway, with current Overwatch League teams negotiating with players until Sept. 8. On Sept. 9, all unsigned players will become free agents, available for expansion teams to sign. Expansion teams have until Oct. 7 to sign current Overwatch League free agents before the window opens to all players outside of the Overwatch League.
Among the teams that have recently made adjustments to their rosters is Boston Uprising, who released three players from the organization today. Plenty more changes are expected across the entirety of the league.
A start date for the Overwatch League’s second season has not been announced.
