European esports organization Laser Kittenz will be looking for a new DPS player ahead of the first Overwatch Contenders season.
Laser Kittenz has terminated South Korean DPS Byeon “Munchkin” Sang-beom’s contract, the organization told ESPN. Munchkin, who joined the team in late April after being released by Lunatic-Hai, is reportedly facing a wrist injury that hinders his play. Additionally, the language barrier—the team is a mixture of European and South Korean players—could also impact his ability to assist the team.
Lee “claris” Keon-ho, who was signed to the team alongside Munchkin, remains a part of Laser Kittenz.

Munchkin’s departure brings Laser Kittenz back down to seven Overwatch players. The organization will, however, look to replace their former DPS player “in the coming weeks,” Laser Kittenz told ESPN.
Overwatch Contenders season one will begin the week of Aug. 14 with six weeks of online play. An offline finals event will close out the tournament in October. Laser Kittenz managed to place third in Overwatch Contenders season zero, falling to the tournament champions, eUnited, in the semifinals. Laser Kittenz will be joined by Team Singularity, 123, Rest in Pyjamas, Bazooka Puppiez, and Misfits. Movistar Riders also qualified for season one, but have since disbanded.
With Overwatch Contenders quickly approaching, Laser Kittenz does not have much time to asses its DPS options.
