The Overwatch League’s preseason exhibition matches will only be streamed on the Major League Gaming platform, and reportedly not on Twitch.
In a post on the Overwatch League blog, Blizzard coyly left out any mention of Twitch, and instead ushered viewers toward its MLG streaming platform and the Overwatch League website homepage.
Dallas Fuel tank Félix “xQc” Lengyel discussed the preseason exhibition matches on a Twitch livestream, noting that only the preseason would be exclusive to the MLG platform. “It’s only going to be the preseason,” xQc said on stream. “The preseason of the league is not going to be on Twitch—like, the first three days. After, it’s going to be on Twitch.”
The Overwatch League’s preseason exhibition matches are from Dec. 6 to 9—four days—so it’s unclear whether xQc misspoke, or if the final day will be broadcast on Twitch.
“It would have been really sick if it was on Twitch,” xQc added.
Blizzard confirmed to Dot Esports that the preseason exhibition matches are available on the Overwatch League website and on the MLG streaming platform, but did not mention Twitch. “I’m sure it’s obvious by now but just wanted to get back to you and confirm Overwatch League preseason matches will be available on Overwatchleague.com and MLG.com,” a Blizzard representative told Dot Esports.
Overwatch League’s preseason exhibition matches kick off Dec. 6 at 7pm ET. The regular season begins Jan. 10.
