Overwatch fan-artist Joshua Llorente has created another stunning map. He’s the guy behind the gorgeous fan-made Overwatch map set in Cairo that caught Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan’s eye in January.
Llorente posted a video walkthrough of his new map, set in Busan, earlier this month. “I did all the modeling, texturing, and level assembly on this map,” Llorente wrote on Reddit. “The digital illustrations on the billboards are from a friend of mine. It took me about two months to create since I only focused on aesthetics in this map.” Llorente said he started working on the Busan map in late May.

Busan is the second most-populated city in South Korea, after Seoul. It’s a hotspot for sports tournaments in South Korea, but well-known for esports events, too. Located on the water, Busan is also known for its beaches. It’s also where South Korean Overwatch hero D.Va is based out of.
Back to the map, Llorente’s Overwatch-inspired Busan was created in Unreal Engine 4. (3ds Max, Substance Painter, and Z-Brush are also tools in Llorente’s arsenal.) The high-tech looking city is lined with trees and neon lights, with futuristic skyscrapers overlooking a pristine beach.

“I start with some basic sketches and layout for the map, but as I create the level, there will be on the spot changes and revision that will go through the design,” Llorente said of design process in October.
Llorente’s work continues to be jaw-dropping, like any map we could have plucked straight out of Overwatch.
