Another Overwatch League franchise name may have been leaked via a trademark filing found by Reddit user kaizerbba.
A Korean Intellectual Property Office filing connected to KSV Services—KSV Esports operates the Overwatch team—suggests the Seoul-based team will be called the Seoul Dynasty. The application appears to have been filed in late September and could be inspired by South Korea’s history, as well as the history of the team’s players, Lunatic-Hai.
The two-time champions of the OGN Overwatch Apex are the only Overwatch team that are considered to have a “dynasty” behind them.
Related: NRG’s Overwatch League team will be known as the San Francisco Shock
Blizzard has been slowly rolling out franchise names over the past few weeks. San Francisco Shock, NRG’s Overwatch League team, was announced yesterday. Dallas Fuel, operated by Team Envy, and Shanghai Dragons, owned by Netease, were previously revealed. Each reveal also puts team colors on display, as well as team branded in-game skins. Should Seoul Dynasty be confirmed for the Seoul-based roster, we’ll likely see their full branding soon.
We’ve known the main roster for Seoul Dynasty for some time now, but the organization recently announced three new additions to the team. Kim “Fleta” Byung-sun, Byeon “Munchkin” Sang-beom, and Koo “xepheR” Jae-mo will join the boys of Lunatic-Hai, Seoul Dynasty announced yesterday.
Blizzard’s Overwatch League is scheduled to begin Dec. 6 with preseason exhibition matches. The regular season continues come Jan. 10.
