South Korea will defend its title as the Overwatch World Cup champions with a brand new lineup.
Afreeca Freecs Blue tank Kim “Mano” Dong-gyu, LuxuryWatch Blue DPS players Hwang “Fl0w3R” Yeon-oh and Park “Saebyeolbe” Jong-ryeol, and Lunatic-Hai flex Kim “zunba” Joon Hyuk and supports Ryu “Ryujehong” Je-hong and Yang “tobi” Jin-mo will represent South Korea in the Overwatch World Cup. The three professional teams pulled from are South Korea’s top performing rosters—it won’t be a surprise to see the South Korean national Overwatch team breeze through its group and into the finals.
The South Korean national Overwatch team’s committee likely had a pretty hard time choosing the roster. South Korea fields a massive, talented player base—and that’s something the rest of the world is starting to notice. Most recently, South Korean Overwatch players from smaller professional teams have been poached by North American esports organizations looking to fill out their rosters. Immortals, Team EnVyUs, Selfless Gaming, and Team Liquid have all added South Korean players within the past few months.

South Korea will face Netherlands, Poland, and Austria in Group E in Katowice, Poland. Should they move forward—and they probably will—they’ll move on to a regional single-elimination playoff bracket, followed up an eight-team finals at the Overwatch World Cup.
Ticket information for the Overwatch World Cup group stages is expected to be announced soon. The finals will be held in November at BlizzCon.
