Overwatch 2’s scoreboard allows players to check vital stats, and while most of the abbreviations on the board are clear, MIT is less so.
When you press and hold Tab during an Overwatch 2 match, you can see a full rundown of player stats for both teams. Some of the abbreviations on the scoreboard might confuse people, however. The number of eliminations a player has is represented on the board with “E,” assists are “A,” and deaths are “D.” Meanwhile, damage dealt is “DMG,” and healing is “H.”
While most of those abbreviations are reasonably straightforward, the last and perhaps trickiest abbreviation on the scoreboard is “MIT.” Here’s what it means.
Overwatch 2 MIT, explained
MIT on the Overwatch 2 scoreboard stands for “damage mitigated.” The statistic is similar to “damage blocked” from the original Overwatch, but rather than counting damage that hits a shield, it includes damage prevented by things like Ana’s Nano Boost and Orisa’s Fortify.
If you’re mitigating damage, you’re keeping damage away from yourself and your teammates—preventing the enemy from charging their ultimates by dealing damage to player health.
The MIT stat will likely hit some big numbers for tank players, but other heroes can also rack up the stats. Tanks like Reinhardt and Sigma soak up a ton of damage with their shields, but mitigating damage is not limited to these two alone.
A good tank can keep the focus on them and use their abilities to mitigate damage within a match, keep their team alive, and help push the payload to victory.
