After releasing four players in late August, Boston Uprising has announced the team’s new DPS player: Jeffrey “blasé” Tsang. Formerly of Los Angeles Gladiators’ Overwatch Academy team, blasé is the first new signee for Boston Uprising’s 2019 Overwatch League season.
“We are excited to welcome Jeffrey “blasé” to the Boston Uprising,” The Kraft Group gaming president Chris Loranger said in a statement. “We look forward to helping him grow and develop as a player and are thrilled to have him as a part of the team.”

Earlier this year, Boston Uprising dropped one of its star DPS players, Stanislav “Mistakes” Danilov, as well as three others, Shin “Kalios” Woo-yeol, Connor “Avast” Prince, and Mikias “Snow” Yohannes. Mistakes, Kalios, and Avast have yet to announce new teams; Snow will join Skyfoxes in Overwatch Contenders.
Before joining Gladiators Legion in February, blasé played for a few unsigned teams in smaller, weekly tournaments. With Gladiators Legion, blasé placed fifth in the North American Overwatch Contenders tournament. The team made it out of the group stage, but fell to NRG Esports in the season two quarterfinals.
Finding and nurturing young talent worked for Boston Uprising in season one, where the roster placed third in the regular season. Though the team will remain centered on a core group of players from season one, it appears Loranger is interested in bringing on talent that may have been overlooked elsewhere.
