Terry Crews auditions for Doomfist—just not with Blizzard

At least we've got a taste of what the character would sound like.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor Terry Crews still isn’t officially confirmed as potential Overwatch hero Doomfist, but he’s certainly got us convinced it would be the best thing ever. After visiting Overwatch developer Blizzard Entertainment’s headquarters in December, Crews fans have been clamoring for a confirmation. And Crews has, too. His latest plea is a video audition for Doomfist, but it’s not with Blizzard—instead, it’s with Yahoo! Esports.

“Your face, my fists,” Crews says. “Your doom, make room!” Crews spouts off a variety of potential voicelines, and he seems perfect for the role. A generational character whose predecessors are honored on posters strewn across Overwatch map Numbani, Doomfist is a mystery. Two Doomfist identities are already known—“The Savior,” Adhabu Ngumu, and “The Scourge,” Akinjide Adeyemi, but they’re no longer active. Crews would likely play the new guy, “The Successor.” Besides having a beefy golden arm, not must else is known about Doomfist. But that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating on the character. The campaign for Crews’ involvement in Overwatch began in November, when a fan posted the idea to Reddit. Crews himself responded to that post, saying he’d “LOVE” to play Doomfist. Blizzard has continued its silence on the matter, but we’re happy to see that Crews is still gunning for the part.
