The transaction is still subject to customary closing conditions, but Epic and Psyonix expect the acquisition to be closed near the end of May to early June of this year.

“Today is a big day for us here at Psyonix because, just as the headline says, we’re officially joining the Epic Games family.,” Psyonix said in the announcement.Rocket League always has been and always will be a community-driven game, and now that we have joined forces with Epic, we will be able to serve our community in even bigger and better ways!”

Psyonix has confirmed that the same team behind Rocket League will continue to work on the game and that, in the short term, nothing will change at all with the game or the team. In the long-term, however, Psyonix expects Epic to “leverage our new relationship to grow the game in ways we couldn’t do on our own before.”

EpiC will also be acquiring everything under the Rocket League esports ecosystem. The exact price of the acquisition, as well as other details around the announcement, have not been disclosed by either Epic or Psyonix.
