Creativity is key when you’re making your Riot ID for VALORANT, and, sometimes, using the standard alphabet simply isn’t enough. Luckily, there are ways to find the perfect combination of letters, numbers, and special characters in VALORANT.
How to add symbols to your name in VALORANT
Adding any of the more than 14,000 usable characters to your Riot ID couldn’t be more simple.
- Go to riotidsymbols.com
- Filter and search for the symbols you want to use
- Left-click on your desired symbols to copy them
- Head to the Riot account creation page
- Paste your preferred symbol
The riotidsymbols website can also be used to check to make sure that the name you’re trying to use is a valid Riot ID. By pasting the name you’d like to use in the site’s “Check Riot ID Validity” box, you can make sure that your name is good to go.
After you know your name is valid, clicking the clipboard to the right of the box will copy the entire name so that you can paste it directly as your new Riot ID. This means you can also create your complete and preferred name on riotidsymbols before entering it on the Riot website.
How to change your Riot ID
If you’ve been using the standard alphabet for your Riot ID, you can use this tool to mix things up and change your name. Keep in mind, of course, that you’re allowed to change your Riot ID once every 30 days, so if you end up not loving what you pick, you can change it in a month. Let’s just hope you don’t create something as bad as the worst player duo nicknames.
What’s allowed in a Riot ID?
Naturally, whatever you change your name to cannot include anything profane or inappropriate, but it’s interesting to note that your name also cannot contain the word “Riot”. Other than those limitations, anything between 3 and 16 characters long is fair game.
As a general rule, it’s best not to use your real name. However, if there’s a specific character that you main in VALORANT, you could always use their real name to embrace your inner roleplaying self.
Can players have the same name in VALORANT?
You can have the same Riot ID, or Game Name, as other players, however, your tagline has to be completely unique to you. This is the sequence of three to five letters and/or numbers that come after your Riot ID.
So, as long as you have unique taglines, you and your friends can change your Riot IDs around if you’d like to have some themed names to play with.
