While some of the outfits you can find are purely for cosmetic purposes, a handful of outfits you can obtain have additional effects than just making Zelda look different. Of the 11 outfits, four offer unique bonus effects that either increase hearts, let your spin attack extend, or give Zelda the ability to talk to cute fluffy creatures across Hyrule.

So let’s run you through all the different outfits on offer, alongside where you can find them.

Despite there technically being 11 outfits to unlock in Echoes of Wisdom, three are sadly locked behind Zelda-themed amiibo. Luckily, those outfits don’t offer any additional effect, and the amiibo outfits are just reskins of already available outfits—so you aren’t missing out on much.

When you get a new outfit, you can equip it from the main menu’s equipment screen like other accessories that can give you bonus buffs to Zelda while playing. There’s no reason to find a changing room; just equip a costume on the fly whenever you feel like it.

Two of the eight default outfits you can get, Disguise and Royal Travel Attire, are given to you for playing the game as normal. It’s only when trying to unlock the other six the game rewards you for exploring every nook and cranny, especially the Cat Clothes, which are useful for talking to Cats to get hints about local areas of things you might have missed.

However, many clothes aren’t available until later in the game, such as Cat Clothes, Silk Pajamas, and others. Most don’t unlock until after you complete the fourth dungeon, Hyrule Castle Dungeon, which can take around six hours. So it’s worth trying to collect them all later in your playthrough.
