One of the first side quests in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom revolves around an elderly gentleman and his quest to discover a strange flying plant.

Outside of a few key details, the game fails to tell you what you are looking for, where to find it, or what to do, and it’s up to you to put the pieces together and scour a particular area until you so happen to come across it by chance. It can take some time to find, so if you want to skip all that, let me point you in the right direction.

When you enter Suthorn Village after completing Suthorn Temple in Echoes of Wisdom, an elderly man asks you to find his wife a flying plant that he last saw near some caves deep in Suthorn Forest. There are a lot of caves in Suthorn Forest, but the one he is referring to isn’t reachable until after you clear the rifts in the area.

To the far right of the forest is a cave you can only reach by jumping over the nearby trees. It’s south of where Zelda entered the rift for the first time, and you can use three beds to get some height to jump over the treeline and reach the area. The cave’s entrance has two torches beside it, and entering it leads you to a narrow column.

Keep going forward, and eventually, you’ll come across a flying Peahat monster that resembles the flying plant you are after. You need to defeat the monster so you can gain the echo for it. To defeat the Peahat, you can either press up on the D-Pad to turn into Link and swing your sword around to deal damage and get a quick kill, or alternatively, you can use ranged enemies to fire at the Peahat from afar. The Peahat has spikes that surround it that never go away, so ranged echos or throwing objects at it are probably your best option if you can’t get in close to defeat it quickly. You could even try to burn it if you have a fire enemy echo on hand.

Once you defeat the monster and get its echo, return to the village and spawn the creature before the old man. A cutscene plays, and after some lines of dialogue, you complete the quest and are rewarded with a single Might Crystal for your troubles.

Might Crystals are rare resources in Echoes of Wisdom that can be used to upgrade either the power of your sword or the sword’s energy meter. You need multipliers of five to unlock either one, so every Might Crystal helps if you want to take on the form of Link to slay enemies far more manageable than the echos you have at hand.
